Golden Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Mansell Gerrow celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday afternoon and evening October Sth, 1971. @ The celebration took place in Centennial United Church Hall, when 235 relatives and ~friends called to offer their best wishes. The happy couple were married in Pine Grove United Church in Uxbridge Township on October 12, 1921. Rev. C.W. Watch performed the ceremony. After farming for three years they moved to Port Perry where they operated a bakery with brother Grant and their father E.H.Gerrow. Remaining in Port Perry for 30 years, they beth became active in the United Church. Mr. Gerrow was active in the Oddfellow's Lodge and the Masonic Lodge and also served many years in the Bussiness Men's Association and the School Board. They then operated a funeral home in Oshawa for "4 years with their son Bruce. The guests were received by Mr. and Mrs. Gerrow assisted by their family Mr. and Mrs. M. Sheridan (Lola) and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Gerrow. Pouring tea at the elegantly decorated table with a 3 storey wedding cake were Mrs. Russell Gray, Dingman, Mrs. Grant Gerrow and Mrs. Donald Anderson. Nieces and three Granddaughters served the lunch. Steven Gerrow, "Grandson" was in charge of the guest book. Letters and cards of congratulations were received from as far as Nelson B.C. Bradenton, Florida and Tuscon, Arizona, US.A. Messages were received from Prime Minister Pierre Elliott 'Trudeau, Governor General Roland Michener, Premier Wm. Davis, J.E. Broadbent M.P., Norman Cafic M-P., M.P.P. Clifford Pilkey presented the couple with a plaque from the Provincial Government Greetings were received from. E.G. McNeely, mayor of Oshawa. MATT DYMOND ' Nearest Committee Room - Perry Street - Port Perry, Ont. resident of Port Perry, passed away at Community Memorial Hospital, Sep- tember 7, 1971 in his 60th year. Born at Ashburn, Manitoba, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Warren. He came to Port Perry in 1929 and was married to Clara Symes at Epsom in 1934. He was employed by Chariton Transport Ltd., Oshawa, for the past seventeen years. The deceased is survived by his wife, the former Clara Symes, a son: Jack; and five daughters: Marlene (Mrs. R. Desautels), Joan (Mrs. 4G. Geer), Nancy, and Linda (Mrs, D. Card). Interment at Uxbridge Cemetery At the regular meeting of October 12, Council granted permission for the holding of an Orange Parade in the Village on October 24. The parade will start at 9:30 in the morning, moving from Palmer Park to the United Church for a morning service. At the end of the service, the parade will return to the Park. The request of Council was from Mr. George Sims and Mr. Everett Prentice.
