By Wm. Brock The Historic Sites Branch of the Ontario Government will erect @ memorial plaque honour of the tate James 'Jimmie' Frise. The plaque will be placed on the grounds of the Head School, Scu- gg where Mr. 'Frise went to school from 1896 to 1902. It is reliably reported that he was born on a farm just west of the school on Scugog island. The unveiling ceremony will take place on the Sunday afternoon, September 19 at 2:00 p.m. The Lake Scugog Historical Society has been asked to arrange the details of the ceremony. it is hoped that the pleque will be-unveiied by John Frise of Toronto, son of Jimmie Frise, and that Gregory Clark, Mr. Frise's associate for many years, will siso attend. Mr. Frise is now being recognized as one of the great cartoonists of North America, Known for his series, 'Birdseye Center' in the Star Weekly, his folksy characters gave his readers in the twenties, thirties and forties an opportunity to look at their neighbours and themselves and find humorous relief from their lives in @ depressed and war-stricken worid.
