- The second week of Play+ ground was just as big a smash go swimming on Tuesday after- noon but we were forced to postpone it until Wednesday because of the rain and bad weather. Wednesday morning was Tot Lot's Tin Can Derby. The children were divided in- to four teams and competed in each different contest. The contests were, of course, based on the use of Tin Cans. Thursday, afternoon was th Playground's Annual Talent Show. Performing there, were the singing and dancing stars of tomorrow! Master of Cere- monies, Mark Jeffery did a great job of keeping the show on the road. Winner of the "Oscar" Award was Linda Chapman. An envigorating hike was on the agenda for the Seniors on Friday. They hiked out near the Yellow School house, ate lunch, rode on a hay wagon and then returned tiredly to home. Tuesday, duly 20, the Seniors are having an activity which promises to be a smash-- An Egg Throwing Contest! Tot Lot too, is having a When -- PORT PERRY STAR -- W RECREATION. The meeting was called to order and the secretary read the minutes of the last meeting after which the president, Norm Wilson conducted a few matters of business. We then judged a class of 3 yr. olds and mature cows with the official placings being given by the leaders John Leask and Keith Phoenix. As this was a combined meeting, there was a lot of subject matter to cover. Top- ics included weeds, inspect and disease control, storage | and preparation of vegetables and the food guide for health We discussed Achievement Day (August 18) and the veg- etable displays for that day. Mrs. Kingstone then demon- strated a method of freez- ing strawberries. The meeting was closed with the 4H Motto.
