Alfalfa Wee- vil was present in Ontario County last year, and it is expected that we will see in- jury this , with the high- est popula in the south- ern part of the County de creasing as we proceed to the north, although the wee- vil has been found in all areas, At this time of year, a farmer should examine his alfalfa fields twice a week for build-up of the weevil larvae. The young larva is pale yellow in colour, with a small shiny black head. The larva,is about 1/20" long when it hatches from the egg and grows to about %" when fully developed. The body of the older larva is greenish white with a white line down the middle of the back agd two fainter or broken white lines in either side. The head remains black and shiny, and is small in relation to the body.
