On a motion by Whitby Deputy Reeve John Goodwin, council voted for Mr. Man- ning and Warden John Will- jams to ask for the addit- ional allocations to complete county projects. In April, the county re- ceived $95,073 from the government program, at $1 per capita, based on the 1970 population of the member municipalities. Warden Williams suggested the local municipalities should try for more money under the program, stating that Picker- ing Township's grant had been increased by the province to $100,000 from $30,000. He called the program one of immense value which al- lowed much work to be com- pleted which would not have |been accomplished if the funds were not available.
