Middie- @ton A miscellaneous shower was held in the Community Cen- tre on Saturday evening, January 30th, in honour of Miss Margaret Fisher and Mr Arthur Matthews, on their @ forthcoming marriage on Feb- ruary 13th. Mrs. Ross Batten also held a shower for Margaret at her home on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Lena Doble spent a few days last week, with Mr. and Mrs. Wess Dobie, Sun- deriand. Mrs. Drew Leper, London, and Mrs. Robt. Rowe, Tren- ton, were week-end visitors at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Heron. The monthly meeting of the Women's Missionary Soc- iety was held at the home of Mrs. Edgar Heron on Wednes- day evening, February 3rd, with 12 ladies present. The meeting opened with the singing of "The Lord's My Shepherd." A short meditat- ion, by the president based on Proverbs 29:18 "Where there is no vision, the people perish." Mrs. L. The theme courage to Live Our Faith was given by Mrs. Mount assisted by Mrs. Pear- son. The Offering was re ceived and dedicated. Hymn 399 was sung followed by prayer offered by Mrs. Mc- Caig. Two recorded songs were enjoyed. Mrs, Phoenix gave a talk on Reconciliation in Canada especially dealing with French - English rela- tions which was much appre- ciated. The Unit Leader Mrs. Ro bert Leask presided for the business session welcoming all present and thanking the group in charge. She read 2 poem Mah And The Moon which was quite appropriate at the present time. Twenty two members answered the Roll Call. The Treasurer's report showed a balance of $377.42. A letter from Mrs. Reta Beadle stated that the Community Hospital Auxili ary were interested in gett _..| ing new members. Our share of the allocation was to be left at the same figure name ly $300. The March Meeting will be held on the 10th instead of the regular first Wednesday due to the Banquet at which we are helping to cater. Mrs. Beaton gave a very comprehensive and interesting report on the recent Presbyterial conven- tion held in Cannington. Eleven members attended & all reported a worthwhile Day. Meeting adjourned and a social half hour followed. There was very little business as there was entertainment, so more business at the next meeting, February 10th, at 2pm. A new group will do the catering for the lunch and the ~onthly euchre. Bus Convener Mrs. Robert son, has gone south for a couple of months, so Mrs. Allen will look after any Trips until her return. 13 tables of euchre were played on January 30th.
