At that time Port Perry had a population of 2,827 compared to 2,898 as of June, 1970 when the last census was taken. This is an increase of 71 during the year. This is certainly no popu- lation explotion, but a healthy natural growth and will no doubt increase more rapidly in the future when Regional Government comes into being and the possibility of industry moving into the Village follo- wing the completion of the sewage system project. The figures released from the clerk-treasurer, John F. Raines, show the greatest in- crease to be in the age group 10-59.
