Mrs. Jean McDer- mott welcomed those pregent after the summer months and opened by reading «a poem entitled "Smile" foll-- owed by @ prayer. Unit two were called upon for the devotional. Mrs. Heayn read the call to wor- ship entitled "Neighbours". We sang hymn 187 and re- peated Psalm 119 in unison. Mrs. McTavish gave an inter- esting reading, "The Bible or Highways and Road Signs." Mrs. Heayn closed with a poem and prayer. Minutes of the executive meeting 'held in July were read and approved and the treasurer gave a very favour- able report. Many items of business were discussed. It was decid- ed to hold the annual Thank Offering service on the reg- ular general meeting night in October and arrangements are being made to have a speaker. It was brought to the members attention that tablecloths are no available for rent and all the members are urged to save Canada Packers labels in or- der to secure more table- cloths of our own. Mrs. Joan Lane spoke on Christian and Missionary Ed- ucation and reported the con- cern about lack of attendan- ce at Sunday School. An in- teresting article from te United Church Observer was read in this regard. Mrs Lane concluded by reading an appropriate poem "The Teacher."
