The Georgetown Minot Atom Raiders started off their season picking up two wins in their first three out- ings. In the season opener at home on Oct. 2, the Raiders solidly defeated Gaelgl 1l- 2. Multiple goal scorers were Kyle Hotham with four, Tim Mansfield and T.J. Monaghan with dou- bles. Ryan Busby, Kevin Binsell and Ronny Larocque netted a goal apiece. Earning assists on the scor- ing plays were Ryan Busby (2), Mark Fantegrossi (2), Ryan Field (2), Brad Snow, eAlex Durham, Scott Pike, Nick Black and Jordan Booth. Last Saturday the Raiders dropped their first road game 4-3 to the Oakville Rangers in a hard fought, seesawing battle. The Raiders started the game at a very fast pace with some good defensive plays by Andrew Black and Brian Stuttard, and excellent passes by Jason Hayes and Brent McClung. In the third period, the Raiders found themselves with a man short and with 11 seconds left in the penalty, Ryan Bobor scored the win- ning goal at the 10:09. mark. A solid team effort result- ed in a final score of Georgetown 2, Milton 1. Beaver Lumber in tough The Beaver Lumber Major Novice, Raiders half suffered two tough losses in the early going of their 1993/94 season. Last. Monday the Georgetown squad got on the scoreboard first against Burlington when Brett Velten bent the twine with assists going to Scott Rostrup and — Brent Beaumont. A_ -single Burlington marker later in the first and two more in the third frame (the last on a power play) settled the issue. The Raiders put in a strong effort to keep the second period scoreless. Donnie Lane played his usual solid game in the Raider nets. The Major Novice Raiders lost their first game of the season, a 3-2 decision last Saturday in Oakville on a late goal with just 16 sec- onds left on the clock. Brett Velten gave the Raiders an early 1-0 lead after being fed by Byron Jarome and Billy: McDonald.
