Description
This image was printed in the 20 October 1999 edition of The Record News. Its caption read: "This picture (1918) depicts the corner of Beckwith Street North and Main street, taken in front of the Foster and Graham store. Robert Warden, head of finance for the Frost and Wood Company, is shown with his son Jack in their new Model T Ford. Robert Warden's eldest daughter Anita Josephine would later marry Charles Harwood McKimm, eldest son and founder of the Rideau Record (later the Record News) George Fredrick McKimm. In the background can be seen the Russell Hotel on the left of the City Barber, Tobacco and Cigar Shop. On the southwest corner of Beckwith Street South and Main Street is the brick Italianate commercial block known over the years as the Garrett Block, Washburn Block and Farmers' Exchange. In the upper left corner you can see the top of the Wood Mill complex. Thanks to the McKimm family for submitting this photo."
