In the early 1900's, the original sash win- dows were replaced by plate glass. Gord and Janice restored the ap- pearance of the house by installing new sash windows, a look in keeping with the origi- nal design. Among the other featured restorations was removing the or- ange/red shag car- peting from the front and back parlours to reveal and refurbish the original wide plank floors, reinstalling the pillars separating the parlours, as well as re- moving walls of 1960s rec room panelling from the original di room and kitchen. Lovingly restored as close as possible to its original condition, the Gibbins hope that the Striker House will be the centre of Christmas celebrations for many years to come.
