So, the provisions in the County Official Plan will stand. | can also report that the much delayed circulation of the natural heritage section of the proposed PPS leaves current environmental protections intact. So the County’s Natural Core Area protections, wetland setbacks etc. will remain. And, of course, the Province finally designated the new Monarch Point Conservation Reserve which SSJI has been working towards for over five years. Full details at SSJI.ca. Council News The County’s offer to purchase the former Queen Elizabeth school in Picton for $1,375,000 was accepted so we now own it and can proceed with plans for affordable housing and social services facilities Council approved a contract for revitalization of the Crystal Palace Council approved making the CR49 initiative a project of community interest which allows donations to receive a tax receipt Council awarded a tender for a tandem axle truck that was previously approved at budget Council awarded a contract for the West Mary St. sanitary sewer reconstruction Council agreed to continue the “Feed the Meter” campaign for four more years Council turned down a proposal to “Optimize the location and number of firehalls by closing two and relocating two others. The system, including the Milford firehall will re- main as it is. Council approved new bylaws for planning pre- consultation, what constitutes a complete planning applica- tion and a site plan control bylaw — all of which streamline and make more efficient the whole planning process Council approved a group of necessary amendments to the Official Plan to effect changes required by new provincial legislation. A proposal to include support for battery elec- tricity storage systems was defeated.
