Clarke, 44 Louise street, who has retired from the service of Canadian National Railways, can look back on an interesting career that has taken him to many countries. A native of England, he received his early training as a machinist there, as an apprentice in the Royal gun factories of Woolich Arsenal. After serving his apprenticeship there, he worked for Vickers, Maxim Company, the famous armament firm In 1899, he decided to see some of the Empire, so he went to South Africa.
