MARY LONGEWAY The funeral of Mrs. Mary Longeway, who died in the General Hospital Sun- day evening, was held from her late residence, 328 Brunswick street, Wed- nesday morning, with -mass of -re- quiem at Immaculate Conception Church. Rev. Father W. T. Corcoran sang the mass and conducted the graveside service at Mitchell cemetery, where interment was made. Mrs. Longeway died 36 years and a day after her husband, who passed away in Logan Township, where they had farmed all their married life. In the passing of the 78-year-old woman a host of Stratford friends and church workers lost one whom they had al- ways held in high esteem. She was born in Cherubusco, Clinton County, New York State. Her maiden name was Mary DeFarge. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Fanny Ab- bott and Mrs. Mary Connelly, Strat- ford; Mrs. Amelia C. Schwoob, The Canadian National Recreation THE STRATFORD MIRROR Stratford Nurses Graduate The annual graduation exercises of the Stratford General Hospital took place in the auditorium of the city : hall on Wednesday afternoon, when the principal speaker was Dr. F. W. Routley of Toronto, secretary-treasurer of the Ontario Hospital Association. Ten nurses, who had completed their courses, took the Florence Nightingale oath, administered by G. G. McPher- son, K.C., veteran member of the Board of Trustees of the General Hos- pital. The diplomas and pins were present- ed to the graduating nurses by Mrs. Oliver W. Rhynas of Burlington, pre- sident of the Imperial United Hospital Aids Association. Mayor W. H. Greg- ory presented his medal for general proficiency. Mrs. A. C. McLeod, active worker for many years in the Women's Hos- pital Aid, was presented with a life membership. This was followed by the presentation of the medal for gen- eral proficiency by Mayor Gregory to Miss Maude R. McEwin. The gift from the Perth County Medical Society for highest marks in general medicine was presented to Miss Mildred Hagan of Burlington by Dr. L. A. Macklin, pre- sident of the Perth Medical Society. Gifts to Nurses. The presentation of gifts to the nurses was as follows: 1. Proficiency in bedside nursing, donated by Miss Munn and presented by Mrs. Thomas Ballantyne to Miss Jean Campbell. 2. Proficiency in nursing science, donated by a member of the medical staff and presented by Miss Jeffrey to Miss Irene Corbett. 3. Highest marks in theory for the three years, donated by the nursing staff and presented by Miss Gibb to Miss Lillian Myers. 4. Highest marks in paediatrics, do- nated by a member of the medical staff and presented by Miss Hodgins to Miss Bernice Evans. 5. Proficiency in surgical technique, donated by Dr. Harold R. Kenner and presented by Miss Wilks to Miss Frances Jones. 6. Highest marks in obstetrics, do- nated by the alumnae and presented by the president, Miss Helene Stock to Miss Lillian Myers. The program concluded with the presentations of gifts to flower girls by Miss McEwin. BEREAVED OF FATHER Mrs. R. W. McPherson, Cherry St. has been bereaved in the death of her father, M. A. Beacock which took place at his residence on the 19th con- cession of Keppel Township in Grey County.
