At some point between Aug. 25 and Aug. 28 someone smashed the shop’s front glass window, po- lice said. At this time it is unclear whether anything was stolen. No suspect description is avail- able at this time. The thefts began in July 2016 and have continued sporadically with the latest incident taking place in Oakville on Aug. 20. Police said the suspect targets women, usually foreign tourists, who use the backs of their chairs to hang their purses on. The individual strikes during breakfast and dinner periods taking the purses while the victims are dis- tracted or getting foo Police said the suspect usually has a cell phone in hand as he ap- proaches the purse. Using the cover of his own jacket, he casually re- moves the purse from the victim's chair and leaves with it concealed. Investigators believe the same man is responsible for more than 15 thefts across the region, as well as similar thefts reported in Toronto and York Regions. Residents can help avoid becom- ing victims by: * Never leaving personal items (purse, phone, wallet, etc.) unat- tende * Utilizing a hotel's in-room safe for expensive items/cash * Not carrying large amounts of cash if possible. Police are looking for the person responsible for breaking into two portables at Iroquois Ridge High School Aug. 25. At around 6 am., someone forced open the doors of two por- tables, which are located at 1123 Glenashton Dr., damaging them in the process, police said.
