Crawford's In First As Schedule Closes Crawford's Construction nosed out Oshawa Merchants 2-1 last night in their final game of the Inter-County Sofeball League schedule and the win clinched first place in the final league standing for the winners. This was one of the best games of the entire season with Griffin for Oshawa Merchants and Harry Gillard of Craw- ford's both turning in a great effort in a pitching duel that saw a 0-0 deadlock stand up for] five full innings. Gillard gave up five hits and so did Griffin. Crawford's got the games first run in the sixth when Ted Roberts opened with a two- bagger and Len Yuill sacri- ficed, then Hughes was safe on an error, as Roberts scored. Crawford's filled the bases with only one out but Griffin got Gil- lard to force Hughes and John- ston to pop up, ending the made one more desperate try. Gillespie doubled with one out, advanced on an error and scored as Cole grounded to the infield. Then Gillard got Bathe himself, on a grounder, to end the game. ANOTHER WHITEWASH JOB Houdaille Industries, who have won more schedule games via the shutout method this sea- son than any other team in the league's history, added one more whitewashing job in the last schedule fixture when they blanked Willis Motors Juveniles 13-0, last night at Bathe Park. Tutak pitched the shutout for ters and walked only two, as he had the Juveniles at his mercy, most of the time. He allowed only two hits, a double by Kuta- sinski, first batter of the game and the other at the other end Houdaille.
