Spiritual Meaning By R. BARCLAY WARREN The sayings of Jesus, common- ly known as the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12), present spirit- ual truths, not always readily grasped. For example, "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." Now how can mourners be trily happy? If God created us in His image and honored His creation, why do not more of us strive with might and main to live as He would have us in this turbu lent world of ours? If we did, we might be able to help, even if just a little bit, to settle the world's disputes, and make it a happier place for all who live, "Thou madest him to have do- minion over the works of Thy hands: Thou hast put all things study and by the teacher's com- ments, gal he is prepared to confess to his Heavenly Father his sins and the deep sense of his own un worthiness, God is pleased to receive and comfort such mourners, "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a con trite spirit." Psalm 34:18, For those who have found comfort through repentance for sin and faith in Jesus Christ there is strength for all the eventualities of life. A Christian friend in his forties, after near 'v a year of suffering from an incurable disease, recently went to be with his Lord.
