H. Campbell SPORTS EDITOR 'Everything From Soup To Nuts' OSHAWA'S ANNUAL softball classic, the Ontario Junior 'Softball Tournament, should be an even more outstanding success this year than ever before, Presi- dent "Wib" Hall and his members of the Oshawa City & District Softball Association met last night to clean up preparations for the big annual event, which is to be held here this Saturday. Proof of the fact that teams throughout the province approve of the way this Osh- awa softball tournament, is conducted, is that already they are over-subscribed. This morning they turned down an entry. They already have 10 entries for Sat urday's tournament, with teams coming from Hamil- ton, Hespler, Toronto, Stoney Creek, New Toronto, Woodstock, Burlington, Brougham and, two Oshawa entries, Scugog Cleaners Juniors and Cole's Sports Juveniles. Stoney Creek won the Oshawa City & District Trophy two years ago and Burlington Juniors won it last year. Both Hamilton and the Tuxedo Junction Jrs. of Toronto are strong favorites for this year's tourna- ment, along with Oshawa Scugog Cleaners. The draw, which will not be made until 12:30 p.m. Saturday, will see six teams draw a bye while four teams will enter the preliminary round. With the con- clusion of the first two games, there will be eight survivors, who move into the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-final round late Saturday<afternoon and the final game will be played under the floodlights, Saturday night. It promises to be a gala affair this Saturday. In addition to the big trophy for the winning team, there are individual trophies for each member of the winning team and the runner-up will also receive individual prizes. Ticket-sellers will solicit patronage from the fans at every game. Follow= ing the final sale, at the night game, there's a draw for _ a very special attendance prize, along with other conso- lation prizes.
