Meech"s Toronto High Park rink captured The Fred McBrien Memorial Trophy and top prizes in The Oshawa Curl- ing Club's annual mixed bonspiel classic, here yesterday. A peremnial entry, Gerv Meech's rink scored three wins and a total score of 13, to cop the top honors. Norm Allan's Oshawa rink and Karl Bertrand's entry from Midland, finished tied for runner-up honors, each having three wins and a score of 12 plus 1. Bertrand's foursome defeated Fred Fordham's Oshawa rink in their third game of the 9.00 o'clock division while Allan's rink came out on top over Ed Rhodes' Royal Canadians, last vear's trophy winners, in their third game Skip Gerv Mech had to win an extra end over Matt Sutton's Oshawa rink, in their first game, but from there, the High Park foursome rolled -to two more clear-cut wins. Oscar Parker's Oshawa rink came out as high two-game win- ners in the early draw with John Morrison's rink, also from the host club, as the best in the one- win division of the early draw Parker's rink had 16 plus 6 while Morrison's rink had 8 plus 1 In the second division, Clare Ramsey's Brampton entry scored three wins with a score of 11, to take second prizes. A good crowd of 2383 was in attendance for the game, and had to be very patient for the start of the game, as a result of an accident involving the Whitby Dunlops, aboard a bus which crashed into a truck 15 miles optside of Hamilton. There sas a considerable amount of damage to the front end of the bus. The only casual- ties were Dunlop manager Wren Blair, who suffered a sprained back and the driver who received minor cuts and bruises when flung into the windshield. The steering wheel was snapped in two as the bus came to a sudden halt in the middle of a farmer's field.
