(AP)--Dr. Roy {Chapman Andrews, world-famed naturalist who wrote as elo- quently of house cats as he did of whales and dinosaurs, died Fri- day night of a heart attack at 76. The retired former director of the American Museum of Natural history in New York died in hos- * |pital here. As a boy in Beloit, Wis., where He was born Jan. 26, 1684, An- drews collected birds and ani- mals. He graduated in zoology at Beloit College in 1906, and went to New York where he joined the museum's staff. His first work was upon whales, which he stud- ied off the Pacific coast and in Alaskan waters. - He was given many interna- tional and national scientific awards during his long career.
