(CP) -- Ralph S. (Kelly) Morton started a weekly newspaper here in July, 1954 with a 50-year-old press and a second-hand linotype. He didn't have a desk. Last week he opened a new $55,000 plant. The Dartmouth Free Press has grown to an audited circulation of almost 7,000. It has the largest circula- tion for a weekly in the Atlantic provinces and is among the top five weeklies in Canada. The linotypes were supple- ted by a new Ludlow type- setting machine in 1958. The 50-year-old flatbed press that turned out the first eight- page Free Press is still being used.
