- Description
- Historic photo published in Record News circa 1936 - the headline and caption reads: "Modern Mechanical Department of the Record-News. The above photograph indicates the spaciousness the mechanical department of the Record-News. At the extreme rear is shown the great press on which the Record-News is printed each week. In the front stands the smaller flat-bed press and directly in front of the cutting machine. To the right of this machine stand the two job presses and beyond them the stereotype department where metal "cuts" are cast from paper matrices. Along the left are shown the cases in which thousands of pieces of type are stored and the "stones" upon which the pages are made up are also seen. The two modern linotype machines, located at the extreme right of the building, are not shown in the photograph."
(Newspaper caption cropped out).
The newspaper clipping comes the collection of L. Ringer, 1936 scrapbook by Janet Lemex.
