Seater for the Future By Les Mellish The Georgetown & District Seniors Association extends hearty wishes for a Merry Christmas to Georgetown. Another year has gone by in our quest for a seniors centre. Iremember last year we had high hopes that we’d be celebrating this Christmas in our recreation centre. Tt was not to be. However, hope is still alive and we’ll journey on until we achieve our “Jerusalem.” In the meantime it is appropriate at this time to think of the friends we are meeting on the way and to extend Christmas greetings and best wishes for a Good New Year. Much as we’d like to mention everyone personally, we haven’t space enough to do it so if you don’t mind, we’ll group them and endeavor to include all our friends and well wishers. First of all, our members (about 800 of them), along with our sea- sonal wishes please accept the thanks of the Board for your sup- port, encouragement and above all, your patience. Greetings also to the Business Improvement Area for affording us space on Main Street during Pioneer Days; to the Canada Day Committee in The Glen and Canada 125 organizers for letting us share in the celebration; to the Agriculture Fair Board for includ- ing us in the Fall Fair; The Kinsmen; The Sons of Scotland; The Royal Canadian Legion; The Legal Clinic; St. Andrews United Church; The Holy Cross Parish; and the Georgetown Market Mall. Christmas New Year Greetings to our dedicated commit- tee members, also to the many indi- viduals who give up their time to help us in many ways: Preparing food, serving, phoning, baking, knitting, selling tickets, (and buy- ing tickets), handing out balloons, wes all our customers the very best for the Holidays and Thank Hu for your patronage as a year. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the proprietors and staff of “This Week” and thanks for this column and your interest in senior affairs. Seniors of Georgetown also extend greetings to our fellow seniors in Acton and wish them a Happy New Year. May Santa have a seniors centre to put in your stocking.
