10 - "WEEKEND STAR" FRIDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2001 - Durham Regional Police briefs Break, enters keeping Durham Police busy this Holiday Season SCUGOG BREAK AND ENTER Durham Regional Police are investigating a break- and-enter that occurred sometime between Dec. 15 and 18 on Proutt Rd. in Scugog. According to reports, unknown persons entered a res- idence by forcing a rear garage entry door. Once inside, the suspect(s) made off with welding equipment valued at about $300 and a number of hand tools. UXBRIDGE BREAK AND ENTER Durham Police are looking into the theft of a large number of power tools from a storage trailer in the area of Donland Lane and Low Blvd. The thefts took place over night between Dec. 16 and 17 after thieves forced open the doors of the trailer. A number of power saws, air nailers, commercial plan- ners, drills and sanders were removed from the trailer. Police are following several leads in the case. POWELL | -- CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT ____ Durham Regional Police responded to Webb Rd. around 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 15 after the firefighter called to report a green 1997 Jeep had flipped over in a ditch. When police arrived the suspect driver had fled and could not be located in the area. Shortly after, police received a call from a male iden- tifying himself as the driver. York Regional Police returned the man to the scene. Police were unable to obtain a reliable breath sample and the driver was charged with careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident. SUSPECT ARRESTED Durham Regional Police officers arrested a 17-year-old male youth from the Greenbank area in relation to a Sept. 25 break and enter. Money and other items were removed from a Greenbank residence during the alleged incident. - Scenes Of Crime Officers managed to lift fingerprints from the scene and as a result made the arrest. COTTAGE ENTERED A cottage on Carnegie Beach Rd. on Scugog Island was ransacked sometime between Friday (Dec. 14) and Saturday (Dec. 15). Durham Regional Police reports say that no items were taken and entry was gained through a rear window.
