But the Port Perry United Church choirs are about to change that. On Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. the choirs are presenting their 52nd annual Christmas Choral Festival. "Our Gift In Song To You" will fea- ture those old, familiar carols as well as new tunes, gospel, and spiritual stylings. "Come To Bethlehem", a duet in Ragtime Rhythm by choristers Mary Holt and Anne Ferguson, will surely set the festive mood. And then there is Nancy Telfer's rendition of "Who Are These Concert pianist Oxana Loutsenko (seated) will be the special guest at the Port Perry United Church's 52nd Christmas Choral Festival on December 16th at 3 p.m. She's joined her by Irvin Gibson and Cheryl Iwata. Strangers?" To further delight the audience, there will be other Ragtime Rhythms and instrumental selections as well. Much to the choirs' pleasure, their special guest is concert pianist Oxana Loutsenko, the. music director at St. John's Presbyterian Church in Port Perry. Born and educated in the Ukraine, upon graduating from the Tchaikovsky Kiev State Conservatory her piano performances also took her to the Bulgarian Music Society, Balchik, Dobridge, Varna and Tolbukhin. In 1989 Ms. Loutsenko was the winner of the All-Ukranian Competition of Young Performers at the Tchaikovsky Kiev State Conservatory in the Ukraine. Since arriving in Alberta in 1994, her acclaim has spread across the country; she's performed numerous "solo, chamber and piano duo recitals and has served as a piano instructor, accompanist, coach and consultant at local, provincial and national lev- els. Now living in Pickering, Ms. Loutsenko instructs in music under the name Elite Piano Studio. "Our Gift In"'Song To You" is a gift to the entire community. While there is no admittance fee, there will be a free-will offering. Proceeds from the 90-minute con- cert will support the ongoing work of the church. Following the recital a delicious Christmas dinner, all homemade, will be served. Tickets for the dinner are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
