By Rik Davie Weekend Star The Durham District School Board has opted to close down Epsom Public School after this school year in their continuing effort to save cash and accommodate students across the region. - The recommendation was announced dur- ing Monday. night's board meeting, which saw the latest System Wide Accommodation and School Improvement Plan (SWASI) Presented before trustees. The closing of the local school -- which includes the oldest school house still in use in Durham Region -- was included as one of the plan's recommendations. The Accommodation document is a three- year plan which lays out for parents, students and the Ministry of education what the board's plans are for new schools, school renovations and the closure of underused facilities.
