Inspector Bill Temple told The Star earli- er this week that after flushing the system and other work at the site, "we now have potable drinking water at the station." Insp. Temple said that another flushing of the system will take place this weekend, with test results expected to show no lin- gering problems. There 'was concern at the site, which opened its doors last month, when officers were warned against using the water to drink, wash or shower. Signs were posted in all washrooms and holding. cells warning occupants not to drink the water, and taps in some parts of the building were shut off altogether. Part of the problem was related to high levels of methane gas. Insp. Temple said that the problems with the water system may have stemmed from the pipes lying dormant for some time between their installation and first use.
