Powerful spling Email us yo by Mila Blackman and Jessica Lee's grace- ful tipping clinched their ninth place finish. The entire club of Bantam and Midget boys and girls are hoping to enter an open tournament in either Penn State or Quebec in April. Local squad comes up short in 3-1 loss | Tyke Predators fall once again to rival Bobcaygeon The Tri-County Tykes went into their final regu- lar season home game hoping to finally defeat their rivals, Bobcaygeon. In the first period it did . look like the Predators were ready to outskate their big guns and puta W in the win column. Josh Malyon got Port on the scoreboard first when he picked up the puck in the faceoff circle, skated across the slot and fired the puck in the open side. Reid Stewart picked up the assist after some good forechecking. Unfortunately the rest of the game was spent defensively checking and trying to skate Bobcaygeon's star to the outside. Several players made valiant attempts to stop #14 for the visitors. The team as"a whole did a much better job of cor- ralling this talented player and even stopped him in his tracks a few times before he got rolling. The boys were successful for the most part but this awe- some forward, who seems to be getting better each game, scored two to give Bobcaygeon a 3-1 victory. Aaron Ashbridge showed he was in the game early as he made a great diving check to stop a streaking forward. Josh Malyon, who played one of his best all round games, was all over the ice forechecking and backchecking. Following his example were Brody Anderson, Dale Edwards and Reid Stewart as they hustled back hard throughout the game. The defence led by 4 0 1 ha Nicholas Shinas and Nick Mason were solid and cleared the zone well. Jonathan Griffen was quick to slap the puck out when the puck came down his side. There were several penalties and at times the game lost its rhythm mak- ing it difficult for a Port comeback in the third. Travis Mackey played perhaps his best game of the year making several stops. The Tykes now travel to Port Carling for a tourna- ment this Saturday hoping to go three for three in tournaments as they already have a 'C' and a 'B' championship. Peewee A Legionnaires move on the Round Two vs Clarington In our first series with Peterborough the Peewee As came out solid with three straight wins to take the series. In our third game we were on the edge of our seats. The game went into overtime and with the hard work of Jeff Durward "and Tyler Daley to feed the puck to the front of the net, Dave Stewart pocketed it to win 4-3. The Peewee As are a hard working team and everyone should be mer- ited on their great play. Congratulations boys. The next series is against Clarington, which started Feb. 4. It contin- ues on Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in Clarington, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Port Perry and the fifth game in Clarington, Feb. 17 at 4:30 p.m. SI PIZZA, SUBS © &WINGS | - by A any Round Pizza, with im YEE SOUARE BOY 80 Water St, [Port Perry Ea PRN RE As AY LS) 5499 NYRI [ran VY FUN RACE ¥ Date: Saturday, February 17, 2001 Place: LAKERIDGE SKI RESORT Registration Time: 9am - 12 noon Jim Flaherty, M.P.P.
