Friday night Port Perry met up with Whitby #2 and came out with their first win 9-1. Chad Decosta lead the way with a couple of goals, with Laurie Taylor and Bailey Todd each earning an assist. Stefanie Thomson picked up the next two goals, Megan Moore's great forechecking made it all possible. Kelsea Steward was next to score a pair with the help of sister, Aislinn Steward picking up the assist. Kellie Quantrill, _ James Rickard and Cody Thomson worked very hard on keeping the ring out of their end. Melanie ~ Thomson the goalie has a sharp eye and fast reflex- es, allowing the opposition only one goal. Good work " Mel. Dec. 9 - Port Perry proudly wins second game of tournament. Port Perry, squared off with Whitby #1 with Port Perry taking the lead early in the game, allowing Whitby only one goal with the final score of 7-1. Showing great effort on the forward lines were Kelsea Steward, Stefanie Thomson and Megan Moore, who played quite well together. Chad Decosta lead the second line with Laurie Taylor and Bailey Todd showing excellent passing. Our defense teams were Aislinn Steward and James Rickard, Kellie Quantrill and Cody Thomson, who were strong checkers and good position players. Melanie Thomson was between the pipes and did an excellent job with great saves and fast think- ing. Dec. 9 - Slo Trail Blazers win over Ajax 8-1. It was Port Perry dominating the ring throughout the game. Chad Decosta and Stefanie Thomson each being rewarded with a hat trick for their efforts, it all came together when Kelsea Steward intercepted a fine pass from our strong defense Kellie Quantrill. Laurie Taylor 's fine posi- tioning on the ice worked well and was rewarded with three assists. Bailey Todd's strong forechecking finally paid off and she came clean with a goal. Megan Moore couldn't be any more precise when picking up that ring that flies by at an exceptional speed. She passed it up the ice using the boards, giving Cody Thomson the opportunity of scoring his first goal of the year. Way to go Cody. We had great defense work by James Rickard who worked hard and succeeded in making great passes, giving him two assists for his game. Aislinn Steward was con- sistent in defending her goalie. Melanie Thomson played exceptionally well, bringing her team to the championship game. Dec. 9 - For the champi- onship, Slo Trail Blazers vs. Whitby #1. The game got quickly underway with Whitby scoring the first goal. With Port Perry's Stefanie Thomson and Chad Decosta it only took seconds to put the pres- erry Sno Blazers capture gold sure on the Whitby's goalie and Stefanie snatching her own rebound flipped it in the upper corner to put Port Perry in the lead. Our Chad Decosta skated with ease to intercept a beauti- ful pass from Aislinn Steward and sent a rocket flying into the top corner. The play was set up by Bailey Todd and defensive play by Cody Thomson. Our goalie Melanie Thomson did her stuff again making lots of great saves and incredible moves. James Rickard led the way making excellent checks and positioning himself well. Kellie Quantrill using her strength and firing off the board kept Whitby out of our end. Megan Moore, with a flick of the wrist, landed herself an impres- sive goal that was set up from Laurie Taylor and Stefanie Thomson. Chad Decosta poured it on, scoring five times with Bailey Todd having two goals and four assists. Super effort by all our young players made the gold medal possible. Final score was 11-7.
