Last year donors included: families hop- ing to teach their chil- dren that Christmas is about giving as well as receiving; groups of neighbours, church groups, employee groups, hospitals, day care providers, clinics, dental offices, law offices, schools, bowling leagues, skating teams, Girl Guides, sororities, CAS holiday effort Four meetings to vali- date the findings of a recently completed sur- vey of experienced work- ers in Durham Region will take place Wednesday, Nov. 29 in the following locations: 0 Loblaws (Stevenson and Gibb), Oshawa - | to 2:30 p.m. and from some who received donations pre- viously and who now wanted to help others. What if you are not getting along with one or both of them? The following exercise is something to try to help you stay close and have a good rela- tionship with your par- ents. ° If your parents think you are making a good effort to understand where they are coming from, they will likely try harder to understand your point of view. To do this, get two pieces of paper and on the top of each write: | Want To Work Things Out. Give one to your par- ents, asking them to list the things they believe they must do to help guide and prepare you for life. Also, have them list whatever it is that you are doing that might be bugging them. Be forewarned, in order to have this exercise be a success, both parties need to detach them- selves emotionally. When you get the list back, go to a quiet place "and study the list as you are your parents. When you are ready, respond have a better under- standing of each other than you did when you started the list. That is one step forward. in writing by suggesting reasonable ways to manage the problems. Gently hand it back.
