The Gryphon Trig consists of Annalee Patipatanakoon, violin, Roman Borys, cello, and Jamie Parker, piano. The group has been performing togeth- er since 1993, and has become recognized as one of Canada's outstanding chamber Fn music ensembles. Belgium's Queen Elizabeth International violin competition and a winner of the top award at the Eckhardt-Grammate National Music Competition. She had studied with Lise Elson, Aaron Rosand, Franco Gulli and Miriam Fried, and she is currently on the Faculty of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Roman Borys is also on the Faculty of the Royal Conservatory, and is recognized as one of Canada's finest chamber ensem- ble cellists. He has studied with Robert Dodson, Gary Hoffman, Aldo Parisot and Janos Starker. He has won several major competitions, including the Juillard Concerto Competition and the CBC Radio's 25th National Competition for Young Performers. He earned his master of music and doctor of musical arts degrees from the Juillard School in New York, where he studied with Adele Marcus. He is currently on the music faculty of Sir Wilfrid Laurier University. The Gryphon Trio's program at their Lindsay. concert on Dec. 3 will include works by Joseph Haydn and Felix critics in such terms as "impressive," "max- imum intensity," "national treasure" and "one of Canada's premier chamber groups," this ensemble will provide a rare musical treat for the audience. Single tickets will be available at the door on the afternoon of the concert at $20 for adults and $10 for youth. The Lindsay Foundation is also offering series tickets for the remaining five con- certs of the season (including the Gryphon Trio) at the reduced prices of $60 for adults, $25 for youth and $150 for family (member, spouse and: children living at home). Referred to by well known 'Ron Compton to be next speaker at Chamber breakfast Ron ~~ Compton, President of Compton Communications, will be featured as the guest speaker at the next Chamber .of Commerce Business for Breakfast meeting on Nov. 30 at Haugen's BBQ restaurant. Compton Communications is a rapidly expanding enter- prise in a high growth - high tech industry, locat- ed right here in Scugog Township. Ron Compton, President, will discuss how the business has developed and adapted to the high rate of tech- nological change to include three separate corporations which pro- vide cable television ser- vices, high speed inter- net services and cable industry software. He will also present the compa- ny"s newest corporate ini- tiative which is now in the final stages of develop- ment. Ron will share with us what he sees for the future of the television and internet industries, how Compton Communications will fit into that future and what that can mean to us as business and personal users of these products and services.
