Pony Club is an inter- national organization to ' promote riding and horse- manship skills among young people (up to 21- years-old). Nearly all of Canada's international show jumpers got their starts in Pony Club. Show jumping is the most famil- iar Pony Club activity to most spectators, but Pony Club also offers competi- tion in dressage, mounted games, rallies (including dressage, cross-country jumping and stadium jumping), tetrathlon (including shooting, swim- ming, cross-country jump- ing, stadium jumping, and cross-country running by the riders) as well as "aca- demic" competition in quiz format. Above all, the objective of Pony Club competition is for young people to have safe fun in horse-related activities. This was the final Central Ontario Regional competition of the season for the year 2000. We hope to send out our pre- liminary schedule for 2001 by next March. MoJacks vs Bruins this Sunday From Page 24 was a good one. We kicked it around for a while and came up with | the Challenge Cup -- just to add a little something extra to the great sports rivalry that exists between the MoJacks and Bruins and the communi- ties," said Mr. Parliament. He added that the players like the idea and "we hope the fans in both communities will enjoy this as well." Both Mayor Moffatt and Mayor O'Connor have been invited to be at the Scugog Arena this Sunday night to help kick off the Challenge Cup series and take part in the opening faceoff ceremonies. "There has always been a natural rivalry and intensity between the communities in sports," said Mr. Parliament and the Mayors' Challenge Cup will add another dimension for the Junior C teams.
