Foote. The high energy acting sessions are both a learn- ing experience for the children as well as a great deal of fun. Children are taught to use their imagi- nations to create lively skits, as well as taking part in theatre games that enhance their obser- vation skills. All classes take place Tuesday evenings begin- ning Sept. 19. There is a registration evening next Tuesday, Sept. 5, which is a meet the teacher evening as well as formal registration into the class. This year the classes are divided into two groups. The first for ages seven to 11 will be taught from 7 to 8 p.m. begin- ning Sept. 19, while ages 12 tol5 begin the same night from 8 to 9 p.m. The 10 week session runs through Nov. 28, with Oct. 31 being the only night off. The artist will be present at the opening of her show of paintings and unique scratchboard drawings on Saturday, Sept. 9 from | to 4 p.m. The show continues to Sept. 28. This exhibit represents Elizabeth Poynter's interpreta- tion of country life and her memories of a happy child- hood growing up on a farm near the village of Seagrave during the 1950s and '60s. The people in the village of Seagrave and the landscape surrounding it were influen- tial in her development as an artist. Now residing in Hamilton, Elizabeth finds that working in different media keeps her fresh. Elizabeth paints colourful oil paintings and draws black-and-white minia- tures on scratchboard as well as painting trompe l'oeil and Chamber choir holding auditions The Uxbridge Chamber Choir is holding auditions for singers for its upcoming season. Auditions will be held Wednesday, Sept. 6 and Thursday, Sept. 7 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., but may be arranged for alter- nate dates if necessary. Elizabeth's work has been exhibited in a variety of galleries in Ontario and in Florida including such places as the One-of-a-Kind Craft Show in Toronto, the Beautiful Woman Show in Hamilton and the international juried shows of the Miniature Art Society of Florida. Elizabeth Poynter's scratchboard drawings and her paintings are in private collections in Canada, the United States and England. Elizabeth's commissioned trompe l'oeil and murals can be found in homes, businesses and public institu- tions. OLT's 'Picnic' takes to the stage on Sept. 14 Oshawa Little Theatre's production of Picnic, a drama by William Inge is produced by Barbara Lloyd and Wayne Nicholls and directed by Chris Francom. The play takes place on Labour Day Weekend. Two neighbours share joint backyards. Both homeowners are widows of middle-age. Flo Owens lives in one house with her two maturing 'daughters, Madge and Millie. A spin- ster school teacher boards at the house. Helen Potts lives next door with her aging mother who is an invalid. Into this group of females comes a young man named Hal Carter. His animal magnetism seri- ously upsets all con- cemed.
