Muskie to be tagged in Lake Scugog study Continued from page 1 pike intrusion into the entire Kawartha Lakes watershed. The angling public can help out by providing data on any tagged muskellunge caught. If the fish is to be released, the fish should be checked for an older plastic tag that may be attached to the back of the fish. The tag will be a tiny plastic white or yellow oval disk, with "Ontario M.N.R." on one side, and a four digit num- ber on the other. (Please do not remove the tag!) Please record this number and as much of the data requested below as pos- sible. If the muskellunge is caught and kept for con- sumption purposes, please carefully cut open the left cheek area and carefully check for the presence of a PIT. tag when cleaning the fish. If the fish is being kept for mounting as a trophy, we would like to retrieve the PLT. tag, as well as the cleithra bone from the muskellunge for scientific studies (genetics and aging). The taxidermist can perform these tasks for you. The PLT. tag from the fish, cleithra, and/or plastic tag number should be returned to the address listed below with the following information (or as much of it as possi- ble): length (nose to end of tail), girth(widest point of the fish), date and approximate time of cap- ture, location of capture, and any other observa- tions you may have about the condition of the fish, Please forward infor- mation or questions to: Steve Wickens, Coordinator - Scugog Muskie Tagging Project, 412 Carnegie Beach Road, Port Perry, Ontario L9L IB6, 905/985-0455, e-mail strike.zone@sympatico.ca. Summer 2000 brings many new things to see and do to Scugog Shores Historical Museum, for people of all ages and interests! This summer the museum has taken a break from some of our annual events in order to try some new things, and get some public feedback about what guests like to see and do in our pioneer village. The musuem is taking a break from its annual Teddy Bear Picnic and Festival of Herbs, but not to worry! There will be plenty of other fun events this summer. Coming Sunday, August 13 will be the first ever Good Old-Fashioned Fun Day. This event will feature games, races, challenges, and fun for all ages. Not to be missed will be clogging lessons with the Port Perry Outback Cloggers, butter churning, candle-making, old-fashioned toys and much more! Visit our Clown, challenge yourself at traditional games or get in on the action in the Blacksmith shop. Bring or buy a picnic lunch! This event runs from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m, and as always, children under twelve receive free admission! September will be a busy month, with some old favorites returning. The Cruisin' Classics Car Show will make a slightly later than usual appearance on Sunday, Sept. 10, after being rained out in June. Running from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with our famous early bird breakfast, and BBQ this event is always a fun stroll down memory lane. Also returning in September is the annual Pioneer Fall Fair, which celebrates the activities associated with the fall harvest. Attractions include vendors, a fall luncheon and demonstrations galore! Admission prices to events are $3,50 for adults, $2.00 for seniors, $2.00 for students, and children under 12 are free. on most® Spring/Summer k fashions and footwear SYAYR DAN = LR IVT EVAVANT ELV SR A VAX [0] to Monday, August 28, 2000
