The event; which raised more than $200 for the Childrens' Wish Foundation, saw more CHRIS HALLUWEEKEND STAR than 200 rubber ducks dropped into the 'Nonquon River, where they made their way downstream and under the River St. bridge to the finish line. The event was well attended. Colin Weir was winner of the $50 first prize. Zephyr woman dies in riding accident A Zephyr woman died Wednesday moming after suffering serious head injuries when she was thrown from a horse, and possibly trampled, according to police. Durham Regional Police report that 21-year-old Louise Langan, of Durham Rd. #39, was riding a three-year-old Hanoverian stallion named Rocket around 10 a.m. on Aug. 2. The victim was an employ- ee at Rocabarra Stables, where the accident occurred. It's located at 1060 Scugog Line 12, just west of Hwy. 12. : Police report that other staff members saw the horse return alone shortly after 10 am. A quick search by staff located the woman lying on the ground behind a barn. The victim, an experienced rider of 15 years, was rushed to Port Perry hospital with no vital signs. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, say police. Ms Langan was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, say police. It is unclear if she suffered seri- ous injuries when she fell, or if she was kicked by the horse after hitting the ground. The horse was not her own; she was exercising the animal, police say.
