Bring a lawn- chair. Congratulations to Briar Doble and Kristy Newbold who were honoured for their achievement in the Uxbridge Skating Club. They passed their Skate Canada Gold Dance test which is an exceptional achievement, not the norm. Briar is the daughter of Kevin and Joanne Doble on the Reach Road and Kristy is the daughter of Mitch and Donna Newbold who lived in Utica as my neighbours, Kristy spending her early years here. Ross and Barbara Evans and several members of their family attended the Acton family reunion at the home of Kevin Acton in Bobcaygeon on Saturday. Aaron Evans of Calgary, Alberta, is stay- ing with Uncle Floyd and Aunt Grace Evans while visiting family in the Uxbridge area. Sorry to hear that David Simmonds is under doctor's care. Your Epsom friends wish you a complete recovery. Utica friends and former neighbours convey their condolences to the Thomson and Midgley families in the tragic death of Joel Thomson. Our thoughts are with Kim, Jim and family as they come to grips with their loss. Paul and Shirley Baster are home, tak- ing a break from their cross-country Antique Car tour. While in Calgary they vis: ited with daughter Julia, Paul continuing on as far as Sault Ste. Marie. He plans to re-join the tour in Orillia on Thursday and continue on to St. Johns. Allan and Brenda Bailey were surprised on Thursday evening when a driver lost control and ended up in a nearby ditch by their home. I understand that the truck was a write-off but injuries weren't too severe. A community bridal shower is being held for Heather Munro on August 18 at 7:15 p.m. in Epsom Church. Everyone is welcome.
