Sharon Jones is telethon coordinator at The Hospital for Sick Children Foundation, and lan Murray is telethon producer at CTV. Both natives of Port Perry, they take pride in their home town's strong community support. And for the fourth year run- ning, Port Perry residents will be holding their Annual Yard Sale Fundraiser June 3 and 4 to coincide with the telethon. Proceeds raised at the sale help to support The Hospital for Sick Children, and are included in the telethon toteboard total. "My job is very rewarding," said Ms Jones. "It warms my heart to see communities from all over Ontario support the Sick Kids Telethon, but it is particu- larly wonderful when it comes from your own hometown." This year's Port Perry yard sale fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, at 16950 Old Simcoe Rd. Last year's event revenues exceeded $6,000, making the total contri- butions by local volunteers over the past four years more than $14,000. "Producing the Sick Kids Telethon is a wonderful chal- lenge," said Mr. Murray. "The telethon is a. wonderful way to reach out to all of the communi- ties in Ontario that are (benefit- ed) by Sick Kids." Proceeds raised at the yard sale will be included in the 16th Annual Sick Kids Telethon total. The telethon will be televised from 7 p.m. Saturday, June 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 4, on CTV stations in Toronto and MCTV in Northern Ontario. Annual car show is moved up to June 11 Classic car enthusiasts are invited to join the Cruisin' Classics Car Club and Scugog Shores Historical Museum for its eighth annual Car Show. The annual event comes early this year, on June 11, and will once again be held at Scugog Shores Historical Museum on Scugog Island. All of your favorite golden oldies will be here, with cars dating up to and including 1979 classics. Once again the museum will be serving its famous car show breakfast for all of the early birds, starting at 8 a.m., and barbe- cues will be firing up just in time for a deli- cious lunch.
