All eight municipalities across the region are preparing their venue sites for the 2000 Games, to be held from Aug. 10 to 13, says Brenda Robinson, Scugog's rep on the Games organizing committee. ~ "We're frantically busy, but things are going very smoothly," she said last week. "We've started our volunteer program and it's going full force. We've got lots of people signed up to help out that week- end who have a lot of knowledge in sports, and others who are doctors or nurses and professional people. We can always use some extra help." Scugog Township will be the host venue for canoeing, rowing, beach volley- ball and lawn bowling. "All the event sites across the region have received approval, they all meet the standards," said Mrs. Robinson. Canoe events will be held off the shores of Palmer Park on Lake Scugog on Friday, Aug. 11, while the rowing competi- tions will take place on Sunday, Aug. 13.
