FRIDAY, APRIL 28, 2000 College, studio team up for new program Durham College has partnered with Veni Vidi, a Port Perry gallery and studio, to provide an artistic environment for some general interest art workshops. Three new spring work- shops offered at the gallery are Life Drawing, Life Drawing - Open Studio and Image Transfer Photography. Life Drawing is an introductory class where first-time artists study gestural expression, con- tour, shape, anatomy, pro- portion and value with a live nude model. Life Drawing - Open Studio was created for artists more experienced in drawing the human form using professional male and female models. The 12-week course is offered over 16 weeks to accommodate students. Image Transfer Photography is a work- shop that uses the Polaroid transfer process to create a framed print by combining time, tex- ture, paper and tempera- ture. "We're really excited about Veni Vidi's affilia- tion with Durham College," said Charlotte Hale of Veni Vidi. "Classes were set up to provide the best experi- ence for each artist, and environment is part of that equation," said Ms Hale. Durham and Veni Vidi also offer six other art courses including Carving in Stone, Clay Head Bust, Comic Book Illustration, Fantasy Art, Hand-Tinting, Photographs and InfraRed Film and the Sabbatier Process. For more infor- mation, call 721-3111. A reception was held for mixed-media artist Susan E. Fisher last weekend at the Kent Farndale Gallery, located in the Scugog Memorial Library. Her display, "Ocean/Sky/Desert', fea- tures abstract paintings and intricate composi- tions of plaster on board, accented with such items as twigs, branches and metal screenings. The display will be at the Gallery until May 11. 00000000000 0000000000000 . .
