No matter how often those cheery reminders come along to rankle, keep in mind: This Is A 'Good Thing. - Yes, friends, we have emerged from another long, dark Canadian winter, 40 years or so of wandering a frozen wildemess, and are gazing on the promised land that is Spring. Now, Spring could look rather muddy where you are, cloudy; or chilly, and there may even be snow hiding in some shady cor- ners. It may be that you're just now finding out how much of a mess the yard is really in, and the dog may be driving you nuts | with his incessant tracking of muddy paw prints across the kitchen floor, but there is reason to rejoice, and it is this: Spring is here, and Winter is dead. Ding, Dong, The Wretch is Dead. | For six, maybe seven months, you won't have to worry too much about snow, sleet, wind chill factors, losing the windshield scraper, chopping wood, finding lost mittens, wiping runny - 2 noses, falling on ice patches, boosting dead batteries, treating frostbite, getting stuck in snowbanks, thawing frozen pipes, shoveling the driveway, and a whole host of other unpleasant tasks. SULT If the weather holds. If. So, rejoice. Everything else may be going to hell in a hand- basket, but it's Spring. (Remember those clocks, eh?) It seems that the same fears (noise and odours) which were dealt with at January's public meeting are again echoing in the halls of the municipal building. Some time ago the Starlite, with the use of pro- fessional equipment, measured noise lev- els. The town officials were invited to attend. Disappointed in council's decision They declined the invitation. Now the town officials have decided to test these levels. 1 am bewildered. During the public meeting in January, the Starlite's solicitor addressed all the issues. | could repeat all the issues, but that would be pointless. | Those who are still disturbed, | invite you to come dine at the Starlite. The cordial service and warm environment will speak for itself. Ken Bell Port Perry A POLITE BRAT!
