Registered Music Teachers Association) presented their "Stars of Tomorrow" Concert. Students wishing to participate were required to audition their piece before a panel of adjudicators, where each student received a written cri- tique, and a mark. At the completion of all adjudications, the panel selected 20 stu- dents to return on anoth- er day for the Stars of Tomorrow Concert. Local piano students who auditioned and were selected to play were Mark Copithorn, Gillian McGrath, Jennifer Chambers, Darryl Copithorn, and Ashley Faux. Mark Copithorn received the highest mark of the day with a mark of 90 per cent. The Duke Trio, one of Canada's newest and most excit- ing piano trios, will be performing. This ensemble has been received very favourably by colleagues and audi- ences since its debut performance in Toronto in 1995. The trio has continued to perform in recitals and radio broad- casts across Ontario and in British Columbia and Washington state. The vitality and imagination of these young performers has established the Duke Trio as one of this country's fastest-rising ensembles. The group consists of Mark Fewer, violin, Thomas Wiebe, cello, and Peter Longworth, piano. Violinist Mark Fewer graduated from the University of Toronto with an Eaton Graduate Scholarship, having stud- ied with David Zafer. He contained his studies in London with Jose-Luis Garcia, and in Budapest. Mr. Fewer is active as soloist, chamber musician and guest concertmaster throughout Canada and in the U.S.A., Europe and Japan. He teaches at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. PIZZA, SUBS Cellist Thomas Wiebe is a member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and is also well-known as a soloist and chamber musician. Mr. Wiebe had received many awards, including second prize at the Vina del Mar International Competition in Chile, and first prize at the Juillard and Yale Concerto Competitions. He holds a mas- ters degree from Yale, and is currently teaching at the Glenn Gould Professional School of the Royal Conservatory of Music. American pianist Peter Longworth has a long record of achievements, including first place in the Chicago Symphony, Skokie Valley Symphony and World Youth Symphony competitions. He was a finalist in the Busoni International Piano competition in Italy, and a semi-final- ist in the Gina Bachauer Piano competition. He has recent- ly completed a performing tour of England and Scotland. Mr. Longworth has received the Artists' Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music, where he is now a member of the piano faculty.
