Port Perry Angels' ball club off to play in Australia Angels off to the land Down Under "ie The Port Perry Angels Midget Girls Softball teams will be travelling to Australia for nearly three weeks in March. The teams will begin play in Canberra, the capital of Australia. They will play 12 exhibition games. The girls are being billeted with a local-team from Canberra. They will go to Sydney to play their state 18U and 23U teams plus a tournament. The teams will visit the Olympic site and a clinic by Australia's National Team will be held. The Angels are sponsored by Young Drivers of Canada, Director Daron Micikyan and Thomas Cooke Travel of Port Perry. These sponsors are very much appreciated by the g: Angels. President and coach of the Angels, Rick Finlay, has been working on this trip for a year and is glad everything is going smoothly. He says everyone has been working hard to make the trip a success. The Angels have been working hard indoors with practices on Saturdays at Seneca College. On Sunday mornings they travel to Newmarket for batting practice and pitchers and catchers are in the gym at Port Perry. @ There are 26 players going in a group of 43 and they are getting very "excited as heard from local pitcher Stefanie Kingswell of Nestleton. "Going to Australia is an opportu- nity of a lifetime. We are very excited to be facing the tough competition of the Australian teams. Working with the Australian National Team is a dream come true. Local Leanne Goslin of Blackstock is also excited and she is bringing two friends to enjoy her trip. Leanne is a member of our Junior Team and will be playing and helping our Midget girls.
