"Winning is very impor- tant, of course," said the general manager. "But so is helping these young men to become responsible members of the communi- ty." Mr. Parliament said the club welcomed Shane Norton to the coaching staff this season. He's a for- mer captain of the squad who led the Mojacks in scoring last season (sec- ond overall in the Central League) and was named League MVP as well. "Shane approached me late last season and expressed an interest in joining the coaching staff," said Mr. Parliament, adding the club is more than pleased to have the Port Perry native on board. Scott Pinkerton will con- tinue to work as both an assistant coach and with the general manager, but his time will be reduced due to family commit- ments in the coming months. The Mojacks this season will play a 42-game sched- ule with the same six clubs (Uxbridge, Lakefield, Bobcaygeon, Georgina and Little Britain) making up the Central League. A new wrinkle will be a home- and-home series (two games) with the Campbellford Rebels of the Eastern Jr. C loop. And most of the home games this year will be on the usual Sunday evening starting at 7 p.m. MoJack fans who turn out for the home opener on Sunday, Sept. 30 (2:30 p.m. faceoff) will notice that the team is sporting new sweaters. They will retain the familiar white, gold, green and black colours with subtle changes to the Mojack let- tering across the front. In the meantime, the manager and coaches will be working very hard at player evaluations before the final roster is in place. The talent level this year is such that the GM said "some pretty talented hockey players are not going to make the team."
