Ashburn News by Florence Ashton Brooklin Horticulture Society to host annuals show on Wednesday I'm sure we are all thank- ful for that very welcome rain we have received over the weekend. Already the grass is greening up nicely. The lack of rain over the last few weeks has been a real concern. Our minister, Graeme lllman is continuing his series of sermons on the Psalms. Sunday's sermon was based on Psalm 13, titled "The Invisible God," which focuses on the trou- bles of life; however, vs. 5 and 6 tell us of God's unfailing love. It was nice to see Rose Heron, daughter Doris and Bill McAndless join us for worship. Rose was correspondent for this column several years ago. Brooklin Horticulture Society will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 8 p.m. at Brooklin United Church. This will be the annuals show, which we always look forward to each year. However, with the hot, dry weather, it might be a bit difficult to select that perfect specimen. There is a total of 66 classes in the show, which includes a sec- tion for fruits and vegeta- bles. Those showing, do remember to carefully check the show book for all details. In addition, the guest speaker for the evening will be David Gribble who will address the subject "bringing your garden indoors." That does remind us that fall is fast approaching.
