-- 10 - PORT PERRY STAR - Wednesday, uly 4, 2001 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" The annual Blackstock Tractor and Truck Pull will be held Friday and Saturday evenings, July 6 and 7 beginning at 7:30 p.m. This year the Blackstock Tractor and Truck Pull will undergo a face lift as the pulling will be in the oppo- site direction - south to north. This will offer spec- tators a better view of the . pull, especially at the final stage. Of special interest will be the pull back tractor, one of the largest Case International tractors avail- able from Youngfield Farms. There will be four types of trucks competing the two evenings - local stock 4x4s for Scugog Township residents only (Friday), cir- cuit 4x4s (which have strict safety rules due to the alterations that have been made). On Saturday, Superstock Trucks which have extensive changes (Brian Goble, a local com- petitor will be challenging for his share of the $1,000 prize money on Friday evening) and. the very colourful Highway Tractors. These huge rigs will com- plete the Friday evening's program. Likewise, there will be a wide variety of tractor classes taking part. The non-circuit vintage tractors from 1959 and earlier will open the show on Friday evening. Circuit stock 10,500 lb. class is a very competitive class where the tractor has "no visible changes" but certainly has been altered to produce more power. Paul Harder from Sunderland who has com- peted every year at Blackstock is a very strong competitor in this Saturday evening class. Pro-Stogk tractors are the "smokers" which give a great display of power smoke and action. Two light classes, including well known Corey Barr, will pull on Friday while the heav- ies pull on Saturday. Our own Earle Trewin with his "Killer Allis" will compete on Saturday. Mr. Trewin is probably one of the best known of the local tractor builders and drivers. He looks for- ward to the pull in Blackstock as a chance to welcome his many friends in the world of 'pullin'. We love to pull, and we love to put on a show for the crowd." Mr. Trewin said that vis- itors to the pit area will sometimes see so-called competitors working on each others machines. "It is a small world for tractor pullers and it's about making sure we all get down the track," Mr. Trewin said. Modified Tractors which have been rebuilt from tractor rear ends but no longer resemble a tractor provide much noise and excitement. These "Agri- dragsters" are crowd favourites. Their two class- es pull on Saturday. In addition to the excitement and action of the pull, much "fair style" food will be available on the grounds as well as the Bavarian Gardens. All this for $8 adult admission with kids for $2. For further information call Janice Beechey at 905- 986-0035, John Green at 905-986-0654 or the Kellys at 905-986-4257.
