Officers from Durham Regional Police Tactical Support Unit, Public Order Unit, Drug Unit and Street Crime Unit jdined traffic management officers and mem- bers of Ontario's elite anti-biker task force at roadblocks on either side of the 'former Satan's Choice club house - which sports Hells Angels emblems - to stop riders entering the area. According to Durham Regional Police spokesperson Sgt. Jim Grimley, the rid- ers and some vehicles were checked for a-variety of infractions. "Officers checked for insurance, safety RIK DAVIERORT PERRY STAR Members of several police agencies were' on n hand in Oshawa this past weekend 'as the Hells Angels motorcycle club held its first large gathering since its incursion into Ontario. The club has been the subject of numerous equipment, and also to ensure that any- one with bail or:parole orders were in compliance with those orders," Sgt. Grimley said. "This is part of the new national law enforcement initiative on these types of Rumours have notorious club's national run coming to Caesarea this summer Officers took photos and video tape of everyone passing through the roadblock, and drug-sniffing dogs were walked around bikes and their riders throughout Saturday afternoon and into the evening. Police sources say this is the first of several expected "public showing of numbers" by the Hells Angels, who are coming into Ontario after a bloody three- year turf war with rival gangs in Quebec. Among the Ontario clubs who "patched over" to join the Angels in recent months were Satan's Choice and Para-Dice Riders. The Para-Dice Riders are known for their yearly club gatherings at an old marina site in Caesarea. Those summer-time parties are also the subject of heavy police scrutiny. Some police sources are speculating that the Caesarea property could be the site of the national Hells Angels run this summer. Police are even more concerned over biker activity since several Ontario clubs who opted not to patch over to the Angels have made alliances with the Angels' arch rivals in the United States, the Bandidos Motorcycle Club. Local police say they intend to keep a close watch on the several members of Hells Angels living in the Scugog and Uxbridge areas, as well as the members of at least three other clubs who make KWieQ? wqid yin TIO 3 2g QRUOL 2" arrests in Quebec reantly f for a Varley of charges Tncluding drugs and mur- > = motorcycle groups."
