"Scugog"s Community Newspaper of Choice" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, September 19, 2000 - 19 After much debate, it's been decided the 2001 Lake Scugog Regatta will be the last Lack of interest means the end of the Regatta By Albert Putsey Caesarea News Lake Scugog Regatta Association This past Sunday we held the meeting that everyone in the Caesarea mailing area got a notice about. Most of the people attending were in their upper years which was dis- appointing. We have to have parents in numbers with growing children to make this organization function. The three people I was counting on had other important commit- ments and consequently missed the meeting. Because of this the maijori- ty of those present decid- ed to have one more Regatta and wind it up for good. . One year when we had interference and couldn't get a committee together we held the Festival of Sports and I'm sure we can get a similar group togeth- er to carry on after the year 2001 so this Civic Holiday Weekend will. be held sacred for the people of Caesarea and surrounding areas. Support your Regatta for the coming year. Caesarea Ratepayers Association You can see we finally got the road allowance cleaned up to the cld school house on the west side and if we can count on volunteers in the early growing season next spring we'll get the east side attended to. This work contributes to two items, one, it automatically raises the value of your home if you go to sell it and two, when strange motorists approach a clean boule- vard they automatically reduce their speed. we'll call this commit- tee together in the next two weeks to discuss the James Caesar Cemetery and see if we should advance on the project of the sign. If we get the foot- ings in now we can work on it during the winter. Go check it out and see what needs to be done. Road Watch Are you a sincere driver who wishes other drivers to be more careful in their driving habits. This organi- zation was formed after the death of four young peo- ple in East Caledon in an auto accident. In Cartwright we have three drop-off boxes with forms you can pick up off the side of the box. They are at Sunnyside Market, Caesarea, Mark's Maintenance, Nestleton and Penny's Mini Mart in downtown Blackstock. Read the form ahead of time so you can get the main points down of a traf- fic violation, make of car, colour and if you can iden- tify the driver as male or female etc. Your name will never be revealed. The driver is notified of the offense and after three to five days they are called down for an interview. The Scugog organiza- tion is thinking about try- ing to get funding to pur- chase a "your speed regis- ter sign." It would be loaned to organizations maybe for a week about to be placed in locations in their village through the THERAPY & COUNSELLING Dr. Bill Eull, Ph.D..C Psych Psychologist Joyce Eull RN.
