Do you as residents of the Caesarea area wish the annual Regatta Civic Holiday Weekend Regatta to continue? Should the 73- year-old tradition be carried on? An election of an executive to carry out the duties of the positions: president, vice presi- dent, secretary, treasurer, pro- gram and publicity and finally sports director. Should we be unable to form an executive to carry out our Civic Holiday Weekend Regatta, The Lake Scugog Regatta Association will officially cease to exist. Tom Sherwin Lake Scugog Shores Historical Museum The Crusin' Classic's Car Show held this past Sunday was a great success with a great assortment of the classic mod- els, plus a few of the antiques Albert Putsey there. A great number of peo- ple attended the showing. The Lake Scugog Historical Association met with Scugog Township Council this past Monday morning dealing with forming a "Local Architectural Conservancy Advisory Committee." This committee including a councillor will protect building and structures of architectural merit and to protect properties and lands of historical signifi- cance in order to protect our community heritage. The society will hold a board meeting this Thursday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the museum grounds. Blackstock Lions Last Wednesday's dinner meeting was an exciting evening with us hearing from each Lion member who headed up a department on his plan for his coming turn in office. There will be a board meet- ing this Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Lion Bruce's home. Sept. 20 will be ladies night with Governor Royuhbir Singh as guest speaker. There will be a summit zone meeting held on Saturday after- noon, Sept. 30 at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, 1680 Reach Road (Durham Hwy. 8) in Port Perry. More details later. Pine Ridge Garden Club A great talk was given last Tuesday night by Kathleen Petrie on how to get ready to enter your items in a competi- tion. The numerous items on dis- play were excellent and very hard for the judges to make their decisions. Next garden club meeting will be Oct. 3 at Nestleton Hall. Soon it will be time to clear the garden and plant bulbs for spring. The beauti- ful Ministry of Music was provided by Colin Bonner singing "O How He Loves by Doris Hill After a feast of hamburgs | mmm----------------| You and Me." It was Sunday School Rally Day. Greenbank area news Shepperdson who are cel- ebrating their 10th anniver- sary on Sept. 15. Also con- gratulations to their new baby daughter Sarah, who arrived on Aug. 11, sister for Jessica. Sunday dinner guests with and hot dogs, many chil- dren enjoyed the games. The Fidelis Unit of the U.C.W. held a very enjoyable meeting on Wednesday. We were treated to the beautiful singing of several songs by the quartet Bonnie Tinbine, Nina Elliott, Jeannie Harold, and Jean Lorish. The Session of the Greenbank Church will meet on Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The Senior Choir of the Greenbank Church begins practice on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. Please note this change in the rehearsal evening. This will be in effect to Nov. 7, then the rehearsal evening will return to Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. The Senior Choir is hoping to add new singers this fall. If you can help, we would appreciate your support. The Evening Unit of Greenbank U.C.W. will meet on Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The Sacrament of Baptism will be cele- brated on Sept. 17. Anyone willing to be baptized or present children for baptism is asked to contact Ross. The next bap- tism service will be Nov. 26. Congratulations to Lawrence and Wilma Midgley who celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Sunday. Jean and Neil Hunter attended the funeral of Neil's nephew on Monday at Wingham. Congratulations to Tawni and Steve Betty McGee were daugh- ter Cathy and husband Jeff Shepherd from Bowmanville, Bill and Joyce Hancock of Peterborough, and Dave and Jane Ibbotson from Bewdley. Lucky winners at the euchre on Friday evening were: Ladies - Muriel Tassie, Marlene Blain and Lorraine Geer. Men - Neil McLeod, Don Geer and Willie Stone. Lucky draws were won by Iva Phoenix, Marlene Blain and Don Geer. Next euchre will be on Oct. 6. Harry and I, Mary Drewery and Elsie Pogue, spent Sunday evening with our daughter Earla and Doug Stanfield at Whitby, to celebrate my birthday. The Greenbank Lions Club will be hosting a community breakfast from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the hall on Saturday, Sept. 23. The cost is $5 with profits to support local projects. Bob and Eddie Strong along with Eddie's mother, Marg Currie, attended the party celebrating the first birthday of their granddaughter Abegail Steele, daughter of Jamie and julie Steele of Uxbridge. They were among the approxi- mately 85 guests at this party. There will be a bus, planned by the Pine Ridge Garden Club, going to the Royal Winter Fair on Thursday, Nov. 9. At the Durham Central Fair over the past week, Catherine Found was chosen the Fair Ambassador with Carla by Blackstock McLaughlin as runner- up. On a beautiful Sunday afternoon the annual decoration service was held at St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery. There were 12 tables at the weekly card party with the following winners - Sarah Brunton, Reid Harness, Ruby Hudson, May Shortridge, Verna Robinson and Helen Pascoe. May Shortridge won the prize for the most lone hands. Lucky draws were won by Lorna Edgerton, Nerta Masters, Gary Notenboom, Tammy Fairman, Muriel Selby and Verna Robinson. St. John's News By Colin Beal Father Hugh conducted the annual Memorial Service at St. John's Cemetery on Sunday afternoon. Following the ser- vice, the members of the large congrega- tion stayed for quite a while as they visit- ed with each other and exchanged remi- niscences of their departed loved ones.
