"And we have been consistent all year long, never going more than three games without a win. There were no long losing streaks. We earned second place this season." He suggested the series with Georgina could be a long one, based on the way the clubs played each other this season. "It is very tough for any team to sweep." Apd, in a reference to the loud celebrations coming from the dressing room after the win Sunday night, Thornbury said the players are eager and ready to get the playoff round started. In the win over Bobcaygeon, Jones netted two and singles went to Norton, Darrin Forbes, Adam Metheral, Ryan Whitney and Jon Froates, with his first of the sea- son. At one point, the MoJacks trailed this one 5-3 but battled back in the third for the win, even though the game meant nothing as far as final standings were concerned. : "I think we showed something tonight to claw our way back for the win," said Thornbury. "You really hate to end the (regular) season with a loss." In the 11-5 win over the Merchants on Saturday, Jones, Norton and Drummond had two each with singles to Werry, Thurston, Nick Pelyk, Jon Forget and Whitney. Norton and Jones had four assists each. And in Thursday night's 10-3 win over the Merchants, Norton and Jones had six-point games again with two goals and four helpers each. Metheral, Pelyk, McQuade, Forbes and Forget had singles. SLAPSHOTS: The Mo)acks will open the playoffs on a healthy note as Matt Glen is the only serious injury. He took a puck on the ankle Saturday in Little Britain, but likely will be ready for Friday's game. Mike Heasman may miss games due to work com- mitments. Likewise for captain Jeff Clarke, who was recently transferred to Montreal with his job with Nike. Mark McPherson will miss the opening two games due to a suspension assessed in last Thursday's game. Between the pipes, Jeff Mackie has had a very strong second half (selected to the All-Star team) and he was in the cage for the two important wins over Little Britain that clinched second place. Rookie Ryan Fraser got the win over Bobcaygeon Sunday night and also saw third period action last Thursday evening. The MoJack-Ice series should be a free-wheeling; wide open affair as both teams have plenty of speed and scoring punch. Both finished the season on a win- ning note. Mojack's manager Murray Parliament has carefully built a very solid hockey club this season with a great mix of speed, goal scoring talent, size and toughness. In fact, this is the best MoJack club in several seasons. In the past three seasons, the team twice missed the playoffs and was knocked out four straight in the opening round.
