<a "Scugog"s Community Newspaper of Choice" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, February 1, 2000 - 27 Knights crown free throw champions Ten boys and girls from Port Perry and surrounding area were named as Council Champions in the year 2000 Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Championship. The event held at Good Shepherd Catholic School was sponsored by the Port Perry Knights Council #8951. All children aged 10 to 14 were eligible to com- pete in the first leg of the competition at the school level. The winners from Tuesday's Council Competition will now move on to the District Championship which will be held in February. "Winners of the Council Championship are as fol- lows: 10 year-old-girls - Nadine Michel, S.A. Cawker 10 year-old-boys - Shayne Taylor, S.A. Cawker 11 year-old-girls - Erica Deering, Prince Albert. 11 year-old-boys - Cody Sturgess, S.A. Cawker. In the 12-year-old girls division the winner was Jessica Lee of R.H. Cornish while David Stewart also of R.H. Cornish captured the 12-year-old boys title. Thirteen-year-old winners were Trisha Martin, R.H. Cornish and Matthew Krempowich of S.A. Cawker. In the 14-year-old girl divi- sion, Addi McLaren, S.A. Cawker was the winner while Cory Stainton of R.H. Cornish was Council Champion for 14-year-old boys. Each contestant was allowed 15 free throw attempts in the contest and ties were settled by suc- " cessive rounds of five free - throws until a winner was declared. TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN STUDY The Region of Durham is preparing a Transportation Master Plan to help guide the Region's Transportation programs and investments for the next twenty years and beyond. The Plan will identify the new and improved facilities needed to serve future growth, and will suggest ways to make the best use of our transportation services. The public's tnput will play an important role in shaping the Plan's recommendations.
